Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa ★★★★

The room was very nice.

Cereals lacked rice krispies.Bacon wasn't great.Coulnt get the TV to work correctly.

We have stayed twice before - pre covid - and the property met our expectations for the price.

We have had better breakfasts but nothing too much to complain about at Dunboyne.

Friendly staff, very nice selection of breakfast, room was very nice, did not try the spa as I was too busy with work. For breakfast I had the scrambled eggs with salmon which was quite interesting as I have never had that before. Then the next few days I tried the pancakes with golden syrup and did not stop having that for the next few days with some cereal.

Could find very little to not like. Apart from the temperature in the room being a little too hot, the rest was absolutely sublime.

The staff were extrmely friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and the breakfast was very good.

The fitness centre and swimming pool are very dated and in quite poor decorative order and in need of investment.

The property was very clean!

Some things needed a little TLC

The staff were beyond helpful, kind, considerate and friendly. Particularly Niambh on reception & Catherine in the Spa. The Relaxation room is very comfortable in the Spa. The hotel itself is pretty., the room was spotless, little mini fridge was a great addition. The breakfast was fab, afternoon tea & cheese board are fantastic. Value for money where food is concerned. .

All our dislikes come down to a massive shortage in staff. The ones that are there, are doing their best & are super polite under preasure. We were an hour over check in time( 3pm) waiting for our room to be cleaned & ready. While I don't want a dirty room an hour is a bit much. We were 45min waiting for our afternoon tea for 2. We waited 30min for our beverages to be served to us after ordering & paying for them in the lounge bar. The furniture in the rooms are tired & old. That said the beds are super comfy & the TV and shower is very modern. Lastly the SPA. The thermal suite is a disaster, half the utilitys are out of service.. The pool floor has cracked tiles, so unhygienic & dangerous. The general towels for day users are not that much bigger than a hand towel and feel like a T towel. You only get slippers and robes if your having treatments. Let me add that we were but the following day and when I mentioned this to the receotion desk at the spa she told me they wouldn't have any spare robes for us this day. I've never been to a spa hotel in my life where the robes & slippers are not provided to you in your room. Especially when your booked for treatments. It shouldn't matter what day your having the treatments on. It's such a pity as the therapists here are wonderful and very knowledgeable. It's a very costly Spa, that looks the part but does not fully deliver in quality.

There needs to be a siabetoce friendly cold drink available at breakfast

there was a wedding when we had our stay - and you could tell all attention of the hotel was going there. I understand it's a day to remember for the couple, however it was a bit too much attention for them versus the 'others'

It’s was a relaxing location spa was perfect

The Hotel was exceptionally clean and bedroom was comfortable, breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of food topped up regularly, staff members were very helpful, the young girl on the reception was so helpful in setting up Netflix for us.

We were disappointed with the Spa Wellness centre, as the Hot Tub was not working and we had treatments booked but we were disappointed with the Mud bath. A group of young residents were staying on our second night and were extremely loud in the corridor late at night waking us up

The hotel was well positioned, it was easy to find and the town was a short walk away. There were a few pubs and restaurants close by. The hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast was reasonable, everyone is trying to find their way in our new world!

I didn't feel like this was a hotel which was particularly suitable for children, there were times when it felt quite formal. On the initial evening we were there, there were no other children at the hotel. Perhaps, if you have a young family there may be more suitable hotels nearby where there is a more family feel.

Spa was not great massage was booked for 1hour they turned up late only got 30 mins massage not very happy with service.

The staff were very nice and helpful can’t fault them. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. Decor was lovely.

The food was nice in the terrace lounge, a bit pricey for bar food. The toilet in the room never stopped running water and could only flush once an hour and was very noisy. The breakfast was nice but the portions were small. Overall it was lovely and the decor is lovely but overpriced 170 for a night

There wasn't anything that we didn't like

The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite,the room was very clean and large. The food in the bar was delicious.

I liked the hotel it was really nice and the staff were really nice and friendly, would come back again maybe if they had better security to stop random teenagers and people from walking into the "private property"

Random teenagers were left to just roam the grounds to do whatever they like, it was really annoying since I came to just have a break from all of this, they kept screaming and running past the window and just around the grounds

The hotel is lovely and staff are very friendly. The Spa was very clean and Peacefull. They adhere to all the covid guidelines to make you feel safe and welcome. Rooms are large in size

There was a slight misunderstanding about our meal and with reception which they cleared up very quickly and efficiently.

The mud chamber experience is great and the hotel it self is fabulous. Rooms are well kept and up to date with everything.

The breakfast set up is not very comfortable especially because of Covid. No table service and food comes out separate not very well set up and wait staff also then getting questions and complaints when it's the set up not their service fault!

Room was pretty clean and tidy. Breakfast was good with great service. I would recommend an early breakfast as food will be fresher. Given the health pandemic, the hotel were well above standard on all aspects of health and hygiene.

Mattresses were not in the best condition with one being particularly uncomfortable (double bed through combination of 2no. single beds). I had dinner one evening and, while tasty, left a bit to be expected in terms of servings (very few and little vegetables were provided considering the price).

Loved the Decor in bar and the property itself is lovely

Restraunt staff were friendly but definitely not well trained and I just mean little things also one member in restaurant with sleeves of shirt rolled up didn’t look great
